Work and Study (headspace Inala)

Supporting young people to build pathways into work and study

headspace Work & Study Inala provides free, practical support for young people aged 15–25 years who are connected with headspace Inala and would like help with employment, education or training.

Delivered as part of headspace Inala, the program supports young people to build confidence, explore options and take realistic next steps toward work or study, in a way that fits their individual goals and circumstances.

About the program

headspace Work & Study Inala supports young people who may be:

  • Thinking about future work or study options

  • Preparing to enter employment, training or education

  • Transitioning into a new job or course

  • Balancing mental health and wellbeing alongside work or study

Support is tailored to each young person and can be short-term or ongoing, depending on need. The program recognises that progress looks different for everyone and focuses on practical, achievable steps.

Who we support

This program supports young people aged 15–25 years who are connected with headspace Inala and would like help with work or study.

Young people may be:

  • Not currently working or studying

  • Exploring education or training pathways

  • Entering employment for the first time

  • Looking for support to stay engaged in work or study

Support is available regardless of experience level or background.

How we help

Support is flexible and shaped around each young person’s goals, strengths and circumstances. Support may include:

  • Exploring interests, strengths and career goals

  • Help with resumes, cover letters and job applications

  • Preparing for job interviews

  • Exploring study, training or education options

  • Support navigating systems such as Centrelink

  • Understanding workplace rights and expectations

  • Support transitioning into a new job or course

  • Ongoing encouragement and problem-solving once work or study begins

Where helpful, the team works alongside headspace Inala clinicians and connects young people with local employers, training providers and community services.

Where support is provided

Support is delivered through headspace Inala, in a safe, welcoming and youth-friendly environment.
Appointments may be held at the centre or in another suitable location, depending on individual needs.

Eligibility

Young people may be eligible for headspace Work & Study Inala if they:

  • Are aged 15–25 years

  • Are engaged with headspace Inala

  • Would like support related to employment, education or training

The service is free and participation is voluntary. Eligibility is confirmed through the referral and intake process.

Referral

Young people can access headspace Work & Study Inala through:

  • Self-referral

  • Referral via headspace Inala clinicians or staff

  • Referral from family members, schools or community services

A Mental Health Treatment Plan is not required to access this service.
